Paul Gaytán

Paul Gaytán earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas School of Law in 1998, and he has been practicing law in South Texas for 22 years.  Prior to law school, Paul graduated with high honors from Texas Lutheran College with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He also attended the University of London where he studied Shakespeare and English Common Law.  Paul is a 6th generation Texan, raised in a small town that valued hard work, integrity and humility.

Paul started his legal career working for a well-respected medical malpractice/personal injury defense firm in McAllen, where he became a named Partner and opened/managed the Corpus Christi office for the firm.  During his ten years at the firm, Paul was hired by insurance companies to defend their insureds in medical malpractice and personal injury cases throughout South Texas.

In 2008, Paul founded the Gaytán Law Firm to represent clients in personal injury, wills/probate, guardianship, family law, business, and real estate matters. He has successfully represented clients in cases that include: routine car wrecks to complex medical malpractice cases; both uncontested and highly contested probate and guardianship cases; breach of contract and other business disputes; landlord/tenant matters; and disputes involving title and trespass to real property. Paul is an experienced litigator and trial attorney, and he fights hard to win for every client, no matter how big or small the case. He is certified by the State Bar of Texas to represent clients in guardianship cases.

Paul is also the former Chair of South Texas College’s Paralegal Department, where he was an Instructor and taught every legal course offered in the program, which included Torts, Business Law, Wills/Probate, Real Estate Law, and Family Law.  Paul was regarded by his students for being able to teach difficult concepts in an easy to understand manner, a skill that he brings to the courtroom to win cases for his clients.

Paul is dedicated to serving his community and provides various free legal services to low income clients. He is also civically committed to his hometown of Seguin, where he is a member of the Seguin Parks and Recreations Advisory Board, a Texas Master Naturalist for the Guadalupe Chapter, member of the Seguin Area Chamber of Commerce, and Chancellor for St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

A proud family man, Paul has been married to his college sweetheart Claudia since 1994. Their daughter is a college student and professional photographer, and their son is a high school student and accomplished violinist.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys long-distance running, kayaking rivers, and gardening.
